As a service-disabled Air Force veteran, award-winning accessible travel writer and filmmaker, and accomplished TEDx public speaker, Sylvia brings a unique blend of expertise, perspective, and storytelling to her consulting work. Sylvia has trained thousands of military and law-enforcement personnel on Mexico’s drug war, travel and tourism stakeholders on accessibility, and millions of social media users on disability rights advocacy. Her mission is to increase the representation of people with disabilities in media and society through education, awareness, and community action.
In addition to over two decades of experience navigating the world with a disability, Sylvia is certified through the US Institute of Disability and Human Rights as a disability rights and accessibility consultant.

Remove barriers through a new approach to disability.
We’re not here to check compliance; that’s only the foundation. We’re here to move you beyond the basics, to help your organization foster a sense of welcome and belonging for people with disabilities in your community. That starts with viewing disability through an entirely new lens. We’ll bring that into focus.
Here’s a taste of our track record on promoting accessibility in business and travel.

FAQs
Is EGS an ADA compliance inspection service?
No. EGS focuses on practical accessibility, inclusion, and the real world experiences of people with disabilities. Our goal is to help organizations identify opportunities, remove barriers, and create environments where more people feel welcome. Our priority is to maximize the customer experience for our clients by helping people with disabilities feel like they belong in these spaces.
Do you only focus on wheelchair accessibility?
No. Our work considers disability and accessibility broadly. When a project requires expertise outside our scope, EGS can collaborate with specialists in areas such as sensory, deaf and hard of hearing, and blind and low vision accessibility.
Who does EGS work with?
Businesses, tourism organizations, local governments, community organizations, nonprofits, and other groups that want to improve accessibility and disability inclusion beyond ADA compliance.
Do you conduct accessibility assessments?
Yes, but not in the way you might think. The purpose isn’t to “catch” organizations doing something wrong. We don’t take measurements or consult technical guidelines. We evaluate the experience through a disability-centered lens and provide practical user-based recommendations for making spaces, services, and experiences more accessible and welcoming.
